c. 1770-1780s Revolutionary War Era, Soldier's Oval Barrel Camp Style Canteen or Powder Barrel with Wooden Staves and Wrought-Iron Bands, Extremely Fine. This choice quality original Military Style Wooden Water Canteen or Powder Barrel measures about 7.25" long sitting on end, and about 6" tall, and 3" wide being oval in shape. This example has a standard hole at center top for its spout and has a wooden plug intact. The wood and wrought-iron straps surfaces have a nice rich dark natural patina and appears lacquered long ago for preservation. Early style nails support the iron straps only one iron band is missing. A very high quality well preserved example that has choice eye appeal and would display nicely.
