BIRKETT D. FR, Birkett D. (1822 - 1891) Confederate brigadier general who, while a colonel, was wounded at Seven Pines, Antietam, Chancellorsville, and finally at Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg here he was also captured. After his exchange he was promoted general in May 1864. War-date partly-printed Document Signed as brigadier general, 1p. 4to., Augusta, Oct. 12, 1864. Fry signs a "Special Requisition" for clothing of jackets, pants, shirts for 13 Free Negroes “having been enrolled and turned over for duty at Powder Works.”
