c. 1850, “George Washington, First President of the United States”, Colorful Engraving by F. Michelin, NY, Fine. This vibrant, colorful 11” x 8.75” Engraving features a border expanding the overall size to 17” x 13.5”. President George Washington’s black jacket and snow-white shirt and hair are vividly backed by a wine-colored drapery with a gold cord, a green cover on the small table in front of him, and the gold-toned hilt of the sword across his arm. His cheeks and lips are slightly tinted pink. Printing in the border under the image reads: “George Washington, First President of the United States.” A tape-repaired tear in the upper left selvage is away from the image, minor tone spots in the selvage. A handsome portrait of “George Washington, First President of the United States” and ready for framing.
