A rare early 19th century slave dealer's letter, 1 p. folio, a certain R. Carson, Huntsville, N. C., Oct. 21, 1834 addressed to Isaac Jarroll, Quincy County, Florida, in part: "…this day I have started with 40 negroes. Glen bout 3 at Garmtown…since you left…that little negro of Clingman that was sick died a few days ago. The rest is well. Cook is with me and if the negroes that is sick don't detain me I will git out as soon as possible…". Interestingly, there are several tally lists made on the address panel with a number of "negroes" being added to the tally and worthy of further research. Attached address panel with "Huntsville, N. C., Oct. 23, 1834" manuscript postmark. Weakness at folds, else VG.
