Hollow-cut Silhouette of John Quincy Adams, Identified with Handwritten Name below the Bust, Framed c1825, Very Fine. This Hollow-Cut Bust Silhouette measures about 3" x 4", framed to 4.5" x 5.5". Identified in Handwritten brown ink as "J. Q. Adams" (not signed by Adams) at lower left, maker unknown, housed in its original period gold painted wooden frame with suspension loop at top. Portrait at center under a decorative reverse painted glass in black with oval gold gilt surround of the Silhouette and handsome corner devices. Likely created acting as President John Quincy Adams or slightly thereafter. A nice decorative example for display made more rare with its clear identification.
