Very rare and desirable size and form in this four and a half gallon, one handled, Catawba Valley jug., attributed to Reinhardt. Excellent to Mint condition. Heavy glaze drippings running from neck. For the size of the piece it is very thin, a desirable attribute of Southern Pottery. Capacity mark and unique form attributes this to the Reinhardts. 1/8" hole drilled at bottom for utilitarian purposes, c. early 20th century, does not detract from piece. Size: 18".
