Double chambered swirl ware monkey jug stamped, Reinhardt Bros. Vale NC on the bottom. The swirl design was made famous by the Reinhardt's and Propst's families. The example is one of the finest in the swirl ware category. The Reinhardt Bros. pottery shop consisted of Harvey F. Reinhardt and Enoch W. Reinhardt. The shop ran from 1932 until 1937 when Harvey opened his own shop nearby and began marking his wares H.F. Reinhardt, Vale NC. Enoch stayed at the old Reinhardt Bros. shop but changed the name to E. W. Reinhardt pottery. Most of their pottery was for tourist consumption to be sold at various mountain craft shops. For this reason their wares are dispersed widely but scarcely through out the US. Ht: 10.5". Condition: very faint hairlines in the handle, possible glued but very stable and tight. Small chip to bottom spout.
