Bank of Charleston, South Carolina stock recording forty-seven (47) shares issued to Emile Devineau, March 7, 1864, VG. According to a Wachovia issued apology, the Bank of Charleston accepted at least 529 slaves as collarteral on mortgaged properites or loans, and eventually owned and sold slaves when customers defaulted on their loans.
