Scarce war-date Confederate Officers Autograph Letter Signed, “Jno. . Bransford Transportation Quartermaster CSA” 1p. quarto, on rare “Transportation Quartermaster’s Department” lettersheet, Nashville, Tennessee, November 6, 1861, addressed to Mr. Fleece Superintendant of the Memphis, Clarksville and Louisiville Railroad, it reads “Maj. Stevenson, Chief Quartermaster for the Army of the West, has orders from Genl. Johnson to provide Transportation for Five Thousand troops, from Paris, Ten. to Clarksville, Ten. on Monday morning next; and I am instructed by him to ask how many cars with seats, how many for baggage, how many flats for wagons, and how many Locomotives you can furnish for that purpose. Answer soon as possible....” Fine. A wonderful insight into Confederate logistics in military maneuovers.
