War-date Confederate Autograph Letter Signed, “R.A. Fleming” Thomasville, July 23, 1861, 3p. octavo, and reads in part: “...I am sure you are in much trouble and anxiety on Stephens [Stephen Baldy 3rd Arkansas Infantry] account, he rests in the ands of the Lord...I feel solemn indeed. O is it not awful the conduct of those Northern fanatics, only think of the trouble they have brought on our country. I am so distressed that I can not write. I cannot get my mind settled...Our Companys are ordered to Brunswick, they leave on Thursday night at 12 oc., only one night besides this for me to have my dear boy with us. I would not have him back out, but it almost kills me...let us pray constantly that the Lord will be our director...I have got up early to get us ready to attend Mrs. Parnels funeral...Yes I was watching her dying while those noble hearted Southerners were spilling their blood in our defence...” Fine.
