Autograph Letter Signed, “E.B. Branch” 1p. octavo, Quarter Masters Department, Petersburg, Virginia, August 11, 1863, addressed to Capt. Hobson Commanding the 2nd Class Militia, and reads “In view of the fact that Mr. Ege is under contract with the foregoing govt officers and for the additional reason that he is also printing for my office. I have to request that his foreman W.A. J. Martin be relieved from duty...” With Autograph Endorsement Signed “Robt. Turnbull Maj.” at top and reads “Mr. Martin has now a job in press for me, and it is necessary that he should complete it at once.” and cross written AES by Charles S. Wallach, stating that Ege “is engaged in printing Government work...in Petersburg & the services of Jno. B. Martin his foreman are necessary...” With Additional endoresment on verso signed by Owen H. Hobson, Capt. VG.
