TAYLOR, Walter Herron (1838-1916) attended VMI. Served as Robert E. Lee's ADC and AAG during the Civil War. War-date copy of an Autograph Letter Signed, S.R. Mallory Secretary of Navy 1p. quarto, on rare “Confederate States, Office of Orders and Detail. Navy Department” lettersheet, Richmond, Virginia, April 3, 1862, addressed to Commt. Jas. L. Henderson of Lexington, it reads “Proceed to this city without delay and report to Genl. Robt. E. Lee, Commanding C.S. Army, for duty” with Autograph Note Signed beneath “Reported this day by order of Genl. Lee W.H. Taylor A.A.G. Hdqrs Richmd. Va. 4th Apl. 1862.” Fine. Rare.
