War-Date partly-printed Confederate Document, 1p. folio, entitled “Cavalry Horses for Command of General Hampton.” being a “Certificate of Appraisement” and reads in part: “...We the undersigned, chose by W.I. Harth on the one part, and by General WADE HAMPTON on behalf of the Quartermaster-General of the Confederate States on the other part, being first duly sworn, do this 9th day of Febr. 1865, appraise the following horses, the property of the said W.I. Harth at the aggregate sum of Twenty five Hundred dollars in currency, to wit: One Horse $2500...Received at Cedar Creek Lexington Dis. on the 9th day of Febr. 1865, of W.I. Harth the horse set down in the above appraisement, for the use of the Cavalry of the Confederate States under the command of General Hampton, to be paid for at the above appraisement, upon presentation of this voucher at the office of the Quartermaster-General of South Carolina...” with attached Autograph Note Signed, “Wm. Harth” May 6, 1867, and reads “Messrs. Hayne & Son will please pay to Edwin I. Scott on order the sum of seventeen 48/100 Dollars due me for a horse sold to Hampton’s Cavlary in 1865.” Fine.
