Three United Confederate Veterans general orders, each 1p. octavo, dated 1904-1912, and each bearing a nice “UCV” imprint over the stars & bars, two appoint men as brigadier generals, the third pertains to the adoption of a resolution at the Macon Reunion, with excerpts “That we hereby most heartily commend to the favorable consideration of the reading public the book written by Hon. Hilary A. Herbert, titled ‘The Abolition Crusade and Its Consequences....The book is written on a fair and non-partisan basis, the desire of its author evidently being to state only conclusions that are truthful and supported by record...The book is especially adapted for use in the public and other schools; and the school authorities would do well to make it one of their books of history...” with statement “If this indorsement by the Convention should lead to the adoption of this work by the teachers of the South, a great gain will result, which will be enduring in its character...” One fine, the others about VG.
