Autograph Letter Signed, “Daniel H. Green” 2nd New Hampshire Infantry, WIA at Gettysburg, 3p. folio, October 19, 1863, Point Lookout, Maryland, with a complete description of Point Lookout and its environs describing various buildings depicted in a print of “Hammond General Hospital Point Lookout, Md. 1863” that he included with the letter, it reads in part: “...Well this building that you see in front of the frove is the Generals head quarters and those three houses at the left of the genl quarters is the Provost Marshall office and the court rooms where they do all their business. The three next houses is where the officers stay those that have got their wives are here..those other buildings in the rear of it are...houses for the hospital nurses...the building that you see on the left...is the light house where they keep a light an so the vessels see in the night...Up the river bank where you see the three rows of tents is our camp and those tents opposite of our camp is the prisoners camp...the grove is all pitch pine and it is the prettiest grove that I ever see in my life...please keep this where the fly’s won’t shit on it...” VG....plus; Print, 18-1/2”x10-1/2” titled “Hammond General Hospital, Point Lookout, Md. 1863.” Near Fine.
