War-date Union officer's Autograph Letter Signed, "William H. Broughton" (1846-1882) 2nd Lt. Co. D, 16th Maine Vols., POW Weldon Railroad, 2p. octavo, ink, Camp Near Belle Plains, Virginia, March 20, 1863, and reads in part: "...I have sent a man over to the 3rd Maine to get my sword...We had a Division Review yesterday by Gen. [John C.] Robinson, our regiment made a good appearance...I tell you the kind of service I should like and that is this, I should like to be in command of a 100 cavalry to go and come when I pleased, this would suit me exactly..." VG.
