War-date Union soldier's letter written by Sgt. James S. Stratton, 12th New Jersey Infantry, KIA at Ream's Station on August 25, 1864, 2p. octavo, [Warrenton, Virginia] November 13, 1862, and reads in part: "…[Pvt. David] Boody is dead - He died [of disease at] about 7.10 AM today. His body will be sent home this afternoon by express (no soldier being allowed to go with it) directed to J.G. Turner Mullica Hill, N.J. but in care of Bowman H. Middleton of Camden, who has or will be notified by telegraph to receive and convey the body to Mullica Hill…Boody was calm and rational to the last, and those who have been with him believe he died happy…" VG.
