War-date Autograph Letter Signed, "Belinda Hamilton" 4p. quarto, Waterboro, Maine, May 12, 1864, pertaining to her families participation in General Kilpatrick's raid on Richmond in early 1864, and reads in part: "…I want to tell you about Ivory [Ivory W. Hamilton 1st Maine Cav.] and Dimon [Dimon Hamilton 1st Maine Cav.] they were put in prison the first of March in Richmond first and then on Belle Isle 3 weeks and then back to old Libby Prison again. Dimon was sick in the Rebels hospital the first of April and was paroled the 20 of April and sent to Annapolis in the parole camp. I have had six letters from him. He said they most starved him to death. I got a letter from Ivery last Monday, he is paroled and in the hospital at Annapolis with Dimon…he has been sick and that was why they paroled him. He is not very sick he said but about starved in prison…write to them, direct to [?] 1st Maine Cavalry Co. F Annapolis…" VG.
