Partly-printed Document Signed twice, “Jno. Kay Clement Capt. and Provost Marshal, 14th District, Penn’a.” 1p. quarto, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, August 13, 1864, and reads in part: “...I ceritfy that General Dixon ‘Colored’ has this day been enlisted and mustered in at this office for the ‘Colored’ Service of the United States ‘for the period of one (1) year’ and has been credited to Bern Upper to Berks County 8th. Cong. Dist of Pennsylvania for the purpose of securing LOCAL BOUNTY, and that he so appears upon the Muster and Descriptive Rolls as forwarded to the Adjutant General of the United States...” VG.General Dixon served with the 45th U.S. C. T. and died at Deep Bottom, Virginia, on November 13, 1864.
