War-date Autograph Letter Signed, 4p. octavo, South Norwalk, Connecticut, February 3, 1864, with nice cover addressed to Lucy Lane, in Illinois, and reads in part: “...Cousin Albert Nashe preacher in So. Norwalk I do not know but I have written you before that he died his oldest son [Olin Nash 27th Connecituct Infantry, taken POW at Chancellorsville, then served 2nd CT Arty.] is in the army he went before he was 18 for 9 months. He was in the battle at Fredericksburg when the battle began he faltered and begun to cry his comrades began to rally him he laid down his gun fell on his knees and prayed as never a boy before, he rose from his knees says come on boys I am all right now I shant be hurt now, I know I shant, he stood and loaded 28 times. They was killed and wounded on each side of him they beg of him to lie down he brought home his cap the front pieces was torn all to pieces. I saw it. The Chaplain gave the information what faith and confidence he put in his God...he is gone again to fight for our Union. God protect him with thousands of others...” VG.
