War-date Union soldier's letter, 3pp. 4to., written in ink by Musician Elwood Kitchen, Co. B, 38th New Jersey, Fort Powhattan, [Va.], Feb. 19, 1865, in part: "…I think if they all do as much as Uncle Jim it would not cost them anything and would be quite some help to mother…they all have acted mean about it!...They are both mean contemptable old Jack-Asses to make the best of them, they will chase a flea 75 miles for the hide and tallow. Sam Larowe's son, Henry Clay, is here today, he is a Sergt. in the 14th New Jersey…". VG
