A great war-date New York Times, Jan. 18, 1865, eight page, newspaper detailing the battle of Fort Fisher and the capture of Wilmington, N. C. Bold headlines read: "WILMINGTONFORT FISHER CARRIED BY ASSAULTOFFICIAL REPORTS FROM GENERAL TERRY AND COL. COMSTOCKTWENTY-FIVE HUNDRED PRISONERS AND SEVENTY-FIVE GUNS CAPTUREDGEN. WHITING AND COL. LAMB TAKEN PRISONERADMIRAL PORTER'S OFFICIAL REPORTREBEL ACCOUNT OF THE FIGHT ". Other articles include: "From SavannahDevelopment of Union Sentiment in GeorgiaUnion Meeting Held in Several Counties". Inside the newspaper are nearly two full columns listing by name the Union soldiers killed while giving a numeric count of those wounded. Much more interesting content. Negligible tape reinforcement with minor toning, else very good.
