Autograph letter signed, 3pp., Abbeville (SC), March 23, 1845 in which Dr. Branch writes his brother in Vermont. Branch reports on several medical issues including a recent operation, in part; “I extirpated the left eye of a lady fifteen miles from the Village ... releiving her from excuruciating pain which she had endured ...The disease was osteo sarcoma ... a soft tumour growing behind the eyewhich had forced the eyeball from the socket. I first removed the whole eye with part of the tumour, then dissected out the balance of the tumour which was the size of a hen’s egg ...”
