War-date Union Autograph Letter Signed by WM Parker, 4pp. octavo, on U.S. Christian Commission lettersheet, July 10, 1863, Tullahoma, Tennessee, July 10, 1863, and reads in part: "...You will see by the date this that I am still further from home & if possible more completely in the midst of Rebeldom. A member of the commision & myslef left Murfreesboro yesterday morning to open rooms for the commission in this place. The enemy has just been driven out by the recent move by Rosecrans army. They made but little resistance, every thing here shows a hurried evacuation. The rebels left large quantities of stores, tents, & several pieces of cannon. The town is completely emptied of rebel families probably not one remains, tho scores of rebels are prowling around to spring suddenly upon Union men. The army is a short distance from town, though a few soldiers are left to guard the town..." Good condition
