A stereoview published by Strohmeyer & Wyman of New York shows Col. William M. Wherry overseeing exercises conducted by his 2nd U. S. infantry during the Spanish-American War…plus, "Special Orders No. 237", December 26, 1872 signed "Wm. M. Wherry" in his capacity as Aide-de-Camp to J.C. Kelton, Assistant Adjutant General, Headquarters Military Division of the Pacific, San Francisco. In 1895 Wheery was belatedly awarded a Medal of Honor for gallantry during the 1862 Battle of Wilson's Creek, Missouri. The stereoview is lightly soiled, but clear and with good tonal contrasts.
