TRUMAN, Harry S. (1884-1972). 33rd President of the United States (1945-1953). An energetic Democrat from Missouri, Truman succeeded FDR and was instrumental in shaping the post-war world. His sent atomic bombs into a stubborn Japan, helped create the United Nations, Approved the Marshall Plan, led America through the Korean War, and de-segregated the U.S. military. Typed Letter Signed, August 6, 1954, personal letterhead, Kansas City, Mo., 1 p., old remnants on verso, else fine. An excellent content letter from the estate of Eric W. Bacharach, a Kansas City businessman and close friend of President Truman. Truman thanks Bacharach for a donation to help fund the building of Truman's Presidential Library, in part: "I certainly appreciated your good letter of July 30 and the enclosure. We are making good progress on the library and expect to start construction soon. Your check will be forwarded to the director of the Library Association who will send you a formal receipt. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Sincerely, Harry Truman". The library would completed and dedicated on July 6, 1957. The letter comes with the original transmittal envelope and an invitation to the library dedication ceremony. A fine letter with excellent content
