Two connected war-date CDV’s from the CT 2nd Heavy Artillery. the first, a white officer, Vignette of Captain Robert A. Potter of the Second Connecticut Heavy Artillery. Pencil ID on the mount. Potter was commissioned in 9/11/1862 and mustered out on 8/18/1865. Important with this photo is a full standing image of a young black boy who is ID'd on front mount simply as Bob. He has been identified as being Robert Morton, who was Captain Potter's servant. Here he is shown wearing an army kepi and regulation trousers. The same image is published in the 2015 book, “Heroes for All Time: Connecticut Civil War Soldiers Tell Their Stories”. Also the Morton CDV was published in Military Images magazine July/August 1984. An exceptionally scarce pair.
