G, 46th Illinois Vols., Vicksburg, Miss., May 1, 1864, in part: "…we left Black River on the 28th inst. and came to Vicksburg on the cars and went into camp south of the city and yesterday we moved camp to or three miles to the north side. Black river is evacuated we being the last Regt. that left there…E. D. Baker." VG
