A good war-date Union colored troops document, 1p. folio, "Head Quarters Lt. Arty. Brigade, 25th Army Corps, Camp Lincoln, [Va.], May 14, 1865", being General Orders No. 15, reading, in part: "Each battery commander will select one man from his command…to receive a furlough as a reward of merit. Care will be taken to select the best soldier…every non-commissioned officer must be furnished with chevrons and stripes…mounted drills to be regulated by the brigade commander…by order of Capt. L[oomis] L[yman] Langson, [brevet major Olustee and Lt. Col. for Fort Gilmer, Va.] Theron Upson, 1st Lieut. 1st Conn. Lt. Batty…". Near fine.
