War-date Autograph Letter Signed “Louis Bruges” 1pp. quarto, on Confederate States of America, Treasury Department lettersheet, Richmond, Virginia, August 8, 1861, addressed to Collector of Customs Noyes in Florida and reads in part: “...The first Auditor, Judge Baker, informs me that he has received a letter from Dr. Du Val the former physician of the Marine Hospital at your post stating that he is desirous of continuing to reside in the Hospital Building...free of any chage to the Government. If you had informed me of the fact I should have authorized you to accept the proposal...” Very good condition.
