Civilian war-date letter by Charles S. Dickinson, 3pp., 8vo., Dayton, Ohio, November 12, 1862, with hand-carried address panel on verso to Governor Joseph Brown of Georgia. Dickinson included three news clippings reviewing the devastating effects of his "centrifugal gun," here being offered to a Confederate state! The letter reads, in large part: "Dear Sir I see by your message that you recommend preparing for defense as soon as possible, I will send you a few editorial remarks from men who have witnessed the operation of a piece of machinery that I have invented for war purposes of late. I am now at work preparing a steam wagon to run on common roads, and will have it in operation in two weeks and with it I can run around any flying artillery every 20 rods…I would like to come to your state and build the first machine for servis…" Very good condition
