JOHNSTON, Joseph Eggleston (1807-1891) was a career United States Army officer, serving with distinction in the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), and Seminole Wars, and was also one of the most senior general officers in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War (1861-1865). Autograph “J.E. Johnston Washington City, February 22, 1883.” Fine condition.
