Nice pair of recruiting letters, includes: “FILL UP THE OLD REGIMENTS!” 1pp. octavo, Boston, March 8, 1864, stating that “the sum of Ten Dollars extra premium will be paid to any person bringing an accepted recruit to fill up “the Massachusetts Old Infantry Regiments of the 9th and 2d Army Corps, commanded by Major General BURNSIDE and HANCOCK.” mailed, with stamp and postmark. Fine condition...plus; “PATRIOTS OF NEW-YORK!” 1pp. octavo, New York, July 29, 1862, and reads in part: “...OUR COUNTRY is in danger - our Government in peril! We are in the darkest hour of its history since our Revolutionary Fathers nobly fought for and achieved independence....” More. With unsigned letter on verso discussing the draft. Very good condition.
