A rare war-date draft substitution payment form, pre-printed, 1p. oblong 12mo., Peyser, Drake & Co., U. S. Recruiting Agents, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, issued at Seabrook, New Hampshire on August 2, 1864 to David Chase and witnessed by his father, Lemuel H. Chase, while paying the sum of three hundred dollars to the town of Seabrook, New Hampshire. The first we have seen of this rare, but often referred to Union substitution payment form.
