Small black bordered orders for a Lincoln funeral procession, Providence (Rhode Island) April 18, 1865. The piece states that the bearer is to meet at the Armory on April 19th in uniform - White gloves and crape on the left arm - for the purpose of joining the Procession in honor of the funeral obsequies of President Lincoln. The 19th being the same day that the first funeral for Lincoln was being held in Washington, DC. Many cities had their own funeral processions in honor of the President, including Providence. The piece measures 4" x 6 ¼", fine. Along with the procession order is a desirable Lincoln mourning card. The piece is embossed with a tob stone, at the bottom it reads "Requiescat In Pace!" (Rest In Peace). The piece, measures 3 ?" x 4 ?", and has an old collectors stamp on the verso. A rare pair of mourning pieces.
