A great war-date Union soldier's "f-ck" letter, 4pp. 8vo., written by Corp. Daniel G. Prosser, Co. F, 1st indiana Cavalry, Pine Bluff, Ark., Feb. 2, 1864, addressed to his former comrade Corp. Floyd "Marion" Thurman, concerning getting "f-cked" among other things, in part: "…it has been a long time since you had written…now my Christian friend you are the one that bis to blame…it looks very strange to see you…in the good cause of matrimony. All the young ladies getting f-cked and you not doing any of it. It does not sound exactly right. I have the blues…for a few tender lines from my girl on the river…do you know whether she is married…Marion, long Floyd has gone into the Veteran Corpse…there was 23 of [the] company that went as Vets, but I for one did not…when I get through with this…if I don't find any person that wants to work…nor get to stand [in as] some man's jack ass I may possible go in the service again, but if I can get some woman to sleep with me I will stay at home. Don't care if they draft me a dozen times…Marion, I know you see a lonesome time setting in the school house…with a lot of little children and half a dozen girls that you dare not to fuck for fear the old folks will [s]play you out…the 1st Ind. is near played out. Our camp only reports 12 horses for duty. there has been. There has been so much Cotton Scouting done lately that we have nearly all sold our horses and taking it a foot. The Rebels are scattered through the country pretty thick and every citizen…have taken the oath of allegiance. They hang him or shoot him and leave him laying for the hogs to eat…a dozen men have been murdered by these infernal Rebel Bushwhackers and [have been] left hanging for the hogs to eat…D. G. Prosser…". Fine.
