This beautiful waist up photograph Albumen, 6-3/4’ x 9-1/2” of Candidate Lincoln was shot by Alexander Hesler who took a total of four portraits at this sitting, June. 3, 1860. Lincoln's law partner William Herndon wrote of this picture: "There is the peculiar curve of the lower lip, the lone mole on the right cheek, and a pose of the head so essentially Lincolnian; no other artist has ever caught it.” The photo is contained in a period frame although now loose from that frame.
