Newspaper, The New York Herald, April 16, 1865, 8pp., presented in a double-sided glass frame, minor water stain lower left margin, else fine. Printed the day following the death of President Lincoln, the newspaper had immense information. Stacked 1st column headlines include "Our Loss, The Great National Calamity, Death Of The President, Sad Details Of The Terrible Event, The Last Moments Of The President, Scene At The Deathbed, The Life And Services Of Mr. Lincoln, Identification Of The Murderer, John Wilkes Booth The Assassin." The entire left column continues w/headlines including "Inauguration Of Andrew Johnson As President/The Cabinet Unchanged/The Plot Of The Assassin." The entire newspaper is adorned in black mourning rules. We have removed the newspaper from the frame to discover that the newspaper has never been bound. This has caused mild edge damage to the top. Additionally there are minor edges tears on the left side.
