War-date Manuscript Letter Signed by Col William McEvily, Lt. Col. J.P. McMahon, Major Flood and the otehr officers of the regiment, 1pp. folio, Newport News, Virginia, December 16, 1862, addressed to General Corcoran, and reads in part: “...We the undersigned Officers fo the 155th Regt. N.Y.V, most respectfully solicit you to appoint Mr. Bernard McCabe, sutler of this Regt. Mr. McCabe is a gentleman long known to us, he has worked hard and faithfully and spent both time and money aiding us in organizing this Regt....” More. Clean split, else very good condition. The 155th New York Vols lost a total of 187 men during service; 9 officers and 105 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded, 2 officers and 71 enlisted men died of disease.
