War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by Dan Davis, 3pp. quarto, Camp Robinette near Corinth, March 27, 1863, with cover addressed to George Throop [Died of Wounds at Sabine Cross] in the Mercantile Battery in Memphis, Tennessee, it reads in part: “...Heard you were in the Mercantile Battery. Learned your battery was in the vicinity of Vicksburg. I have been wouned 3 times but am alright now. You did very well in throwing so many shot & shell in so short a time. I like the service very well...the best fun is skirmishing & to see the Rebs run and the follow the retreating foe and pick them up like sheep...” Very good condition.
