War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by Elisha Porter, 11th Massachusetts, WIA at Fair Oaks, listed as missing at Chancellorsville, presumed killed, 3pp. octavo, pencil, Nov. 12, 1862, Warrenton, Virginia, and reads in part: “...we are guarding the rail road... I dont know what kind of work we shall have now seeing McC is superceded he passed by here yeasterday and as we cheered him he came forward up on the steps of the rear car and said Boys as I have been superseded by G. Burnsides, I must bid you good bye perhaps for the last time and I hope you will fight under G.B as hard as you have gought for me. Then he spoke to the officers and soon the train moved off...” Fine condition.
