The story of Haywood Patterson, one of the nine black boys falsely accused of raping two white prostitutes and sentenced to life imprisonment in Alabama. This early case was one of the early cries for the Civil Rights Movement. Original dust cover, VG. ... plus, “Just Above my Head”, by James Baldwin, New York The Dial Press 1979, first edition. 8vo, publisher's maroon cloth and in the original dustjacket. The novel enmeshes racism with homophobia. This was the last of the author's works to be published in his lifetime.
