War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by Austin Fenn, Co. H, 10th Vermont Infantry, 8pp. octavo, November 24, 1864, and reads in part: “...When we took our first position in the morning, we were ordered to lay down on a ridge to let the bullets go over. We laid there perhaps 15 minutes, the balls tearing up the ground, and hitting a good many men. When we were ordered back, Loren Pease disappeared and didnt join us until the next tday. Baldwin [James T Baldwin DOW 10/26/1864] was wounded and he escorted him back...He was present with us perhaps 20 minutes in the beginning, but while we were under fire all day, and part of the time fighting like the devil, he was escorting a wounded man to or nearly to Winchester...I had a ball through my cap that day but it didnt hurt me...” Muche more. Fine condition.
