War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by John V.D. Quick, 126th New York Infantry, POW at Harper’s Ferry and Ream’s Station, 2pp. octavo, Centerville, Virginia, April 30, 1863, and reads in part: “...Gen. Abercrombie’s headquarters are at this place now, and it is the opinion of the officers that we will be kept in the defense of Washington unless General Hooker should be unsuccessful in his operations on the Rappahannock. The 125 N.Y.S. Vol that has been in camp at this place was sent on a scouting expedition last Monday and came in contact with Mosby and his band of Guerrillas. Had a bout with them there, loss was eleven killed and fifteen wounded. Have not heard the loss of the enemy...” Fine condition.
