A rare group of six (6) individual, each 1p. oblong 8vo., store vouchers issued, to the wife of Pvt. Charles Tompkins, 76th New York Vols. who was wounded in action during the battle of Gettysburg, on July 1, 1863, by the town of Saratoga Springs, New York, dated between June 27, 1864 through Sept. 30, 1864. Each is similar to the one below, reading, in part: "To [Merchants] Waggoner & Herrson…pay (in trade from your store) to Mrs. Thompkins wife of Charles Thompkins of Co. C, 76th N. Y. S. V. three dollars and charge the same to the town of Saratoga Springs…pursuant to Chapter 514 of the Laws of 1863. By order of the Board of Relief."
