Autograph Letter Signed “W.J. Dickerson, Seff” Tegumseh Okla, February 27, 1898, 1pp. on his letterhead, to US Marshal Thompson, some tanning. In part “Will you please give me a list of your regular and special Deputies and names of their posseman as there are quite a lot of fellows here claiming to be deputies ...” William Joseph Dickerson was the 6th sheriff of Pottawatomie County and known for the capture of Dora Cox. Cox was the most notorious female outlaw in Oklahoma who ran with the daltons, Bill Doolin, and Belle Star.
