Partly-printed Document Signed, "G.H. Fulkerson" Capt & Provost Marshall, 1p. oblong octavo, November 4, 1863, Provost Marshal's Office, Macon, Georgia, and reads "Permission is granted to J.W. Heidt to visit, Savannah, Ga. upon honor, not to communicate in writing, or verbally, for publication, any fact ascertained, which if known to the enemy, might be of injury to the Confederate States of America (subject to the discretion of the Military Authorities)..." Fine. Sergeant John W. Heidt. served on the coast at Savannah and Charleston. It was then assigned to General Mercer's Brigade during the Atlanta campaign, losing 48 men killed, wounded and missing. Transferred to J.A. Smith's command, it continued the fight with General Hood in Tennessee. It later fought at Bentonville and surrendered on April 26, 1865.
