A very rare day of Alabama Secession letter, 1p. 4to., affirmed by the commanding officers of the Greensboro Cavalry company, "Greensboro, [Ala.], January 11, 1861," sent to Governor Andrew B. Moore expressing their sanguine views on dealing with "Black Republican rule", reading, in part: "The undersigned officers have been instructed by the Greensboro Cavalry Company to report the company ready for actual service…[and] to apply for carbines in addition to arms in our possession. We are also pleased to add that the company entertain[s] a spirit of Deadly hostility to Black Republican rule…Wm. Kerr, Capt.; Rich'd. Randolph, 1 Lieut. [and] Joseph Borden, 2 [Lieut.]." Light spotting, else VG.
