MEMMINGER, Christopher Gustavus (1803-1888) was a German-born American politician and one of the founding fathers of the Confederate States. He was the principal author of the Provisional Constitution (1861), as well as the founder of the nation's financial system. As the first Confederate States Secretary of the Treasury, Memminger was the main author of the economic policies of the Jefferson Davis administration. Autograph Document Signed three times in text "C.G. Memminger" 1pp. folio, with entries for 1868-1871, and titled "Payments made on Bonds since decease Thos. Bennett by C.G.M. Excur." Very good condition.
