Hospital, West Phil., Nov. 18, 1862, reading, in part: "…we anticipate a battle soon. We have…a better commander now. The grate failure with McC…he never has followed up an advantage when he has had an opportunity. All McC men…claim him a son to the Keystone state. Burnside is a good Gen. It is to be seen what he is. He has a big army and ought to arise the enemy to the wall…Lieut. [Daniel W.] Burgy went home on a furlough since the battle of Antietam and joined in matrimony. He got a smart woman…he is a beau man and a good soldier. On one occasion he commanded the Regt and distinguished himself…Gen. [John F.] Reynolds com'd. our corps…the government owes me five months pay…address me to Washington. 22d Rgt. Co. E…Thomas Ledwick." Light toning, else VG
